Two-Bedroom Flat Transformation
Winchmore Hill, North London
A focused refurbishment designed to maximise the appeal and value of a two-bedroom property.
The brief
The brief was to transform a tired, damp riddled two-bedroom flat into a fresh, desirable and market-ready property, with the aim of maximising its appeal to prospective buyers while keeping the refurbishment commercially viable.
Unlike a residential project where the design is driven primarily by the individual homeowner's personal taste, this project required a more strategic approach.
Every design decision needed to consider where investment would have the greatest impact, creating a property that felt significantly more valuable without unnecessary expenditure.
The challenge was to achieve a complete transformation within a very tight timeframe.
“Debs provided everything we needed from online mood boards, ideas, cost effective solutions, and budget planning. She was responsive, trustworthy, and straight-talking… We highly recommend Debs Bespoke Interiors.”

A Complete Transformation in Five Weeks
With just five weeks available, from starting designs to handing back the keys, the project required a clear plan from the outset and careful coordination of the work.
The focus was on making a significant visual impact within a relatively short period, prioritising the areas that would most influence a prospective buyer's first impression.
Rather than treating the refurbishment as a series of disconnected rooms, the design created a consistent look and feel throughout the flat, helping the property feel more considered and complete.
The result was a home that felt fresh, contemporary and ready to move into, rather than simply refurbished.
Fresh, neutral palette and clean, careful staging across the whole flat
Designing for the Market
With an investment property, there is always a balance to strike between creating something distinctive and appealing to a broad market.
The design therefore focused on creating an interior that felt stylish and aspirational without being overly personal.
The aim was to help prospective buyers immediately see themselves living in the property.
This meant carefully considering finishes, colour, furniture and styling as a whole, ensuring that the investment was concentrated on the details that would contribute most to the property's perceived value.
A painted canopy grounded the bed with a stylish yet affordable paint finish
All spaces were fully staged making the appearance of being ready to move into
The Finishing Touches
Careful choices around furniture, finishes and room presentation helped maximise the perception of space and create a stronger sense of flow throughout the property.
For a property being prepared for sale, the final details can make a significant difference.
Furniture, accessories and styling were selected to complete the transformation and create the feeling of a finished home rather than an empty refurbishment.
These details helped reinforce the overall design direction and ensured that the property was presented at its best.
The front entrance, hallway & utility were even staged
The five-week timeframe made project management particularly important.
The refurbishment needed to move quickly, with decisions made efficiently and the different elements of the project coordinated closely to avoid unnecessary downtime.
My role brought together the design and practical delivery of the project, ensuring that the scheme could be implemented within the available timeframe.
The focus was on keeping the project moving, coordinating the different requirements and making sure the finished result matched the original design intention.
Project Management
In just five weeks, the two-bedroom flat was transformed from a tired property into a fresh, desirable and market-ready home.
The refurbishment demonstrated how strategic interior design can do more than improve the appearance of a property — it can contribute to its commercial appeal and perceived value.
The completed project was estimated to have added approximately £35,000–£50,000 to the property's value, demonstrating the potential return that thoughtful design and targeted investment can deliver.
For an investment property, the success of the project wasn't simply about creating a beautiful interior. It was about making the right design decisions, delivering them efficiently and creating a property that buyers could immediately see the value in.
